Bandersnatch

I haven’t used this word today and decided I would. Thanks, as always, to Lewis Carroll for this bon mot. It’s a good word and always at home on the memo line of a cheque. Sometimes 13 is good. Or 12. I’ll have to consult with Jose on that.

For those who do not want to buy a Kindle, you can now have one for free on your Mac. I downloaded the application and the first (free) book I got was Alice In Wonderland.

This awesome robotics video is from Stan:

The video is a family of robots having a Passover seder. It’s quite an amazing thing that not only did someone film it, they programmed robots to do it. Very AI in a Wall•E sort of way.

Over on God Hates Protesters we have a true winner. The idiots at Westboro Baptist decided to stage a protest so nearly 500 people came to protest the protesters. The cowardly protesters didn’t bother to show so Anthony Battaglia from First Baptist Church in Gonzales, wound up facing a crowd of about 500 counter-protesters alone.

I have some brief music reviews. I got the new Gorillaz album “Plastic Beach” and while it has some very good songs on it, mostly it’s too urban for my tastes. I liked the previous ones but this one’s past my threshold of tolerance. I can’t in good conscience recommend it unless you’re into urban music or just want it for the sake of a complete collection.

I also got the new Julian Lennon EP “Lucy” done in conjunction with James Scott Cook. It’s awesomely good and will remind you much of his father’s work. Fully recommended to any fan of the Beatles or either John or Julian Lennon. You will like this short four song disc.

And last, but not least, I got the “Behind The Music” Julian Lennon soundtrack which is, in essence, his greatest hits album. Valotte is still a great song and it’s a great album which you should buy. There’s not one bad track on here. Some are mired in mediocrity, but many are superb. I rather did enjoy listening to this disc and am already into my second listening. I would easily suggest this to any sort of music fan for the sheer eclecticness of it.

As I rip my latest purchase into iTunes, I must report my collection of legally purchased music is now 11,826 tracks, spanning 32 days, 23 hours, 48 minutes, and 2 seconds of continuous playing time. That’s borderline obscene. I guess I do love music. I do not own any AC/DC and may not be able to buy it until John and I settle our debate. He’s quite a master debater but he’s got nothing on me.

Over on my Panthers Hockey Message Boards (fans of all teams welcome) I took a shot at someone. I love when my insults go over people’s heads. I’ve been to well over a dozen games at MSG over the past 15 years and quite honestly, I’d rather be in a building full of Panther fans than Ranger fans. Far better behaved and far less self-righteous.

Shout out to Ernie and good luck on getting a job. And continuing thanks to Jose who’s helping make this arduous conversion less irritating.
